"With the Theta Foundation's help, my career has catapulted forward."

Whitney Eulich, Tau/Northwestern
GRANT RECIPIENT
To support her participation in the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies

Whitney decided to attend the Salt institute after realizing through her work with FEMA that she could contribute more to the future of disaster prevention and overall cross-cultural understanding and education in the U.S through radio.

“My experience studying at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies was life-changing. I learned both “hard” radio skills like how to edit sound, which microphones are best for different environments as well as the logistics of covering a story well. I also learned invaluable “soft” skills like interviewing techniques, the ethics of documentary work and exiting the field. There is no way I could have made this career change from disaster consulting to audio production so smoothly without the professional training I received at Salt. And, there was no way I would have been able to afford tuition and the cost of living without the generous support of the Theta Foundation."
"I feel that I have finally found my professional calling, and the work I produce continues to enrich my life. I am so grateful for the continuous role Theta has played in my life, and its contribution to my experience at the Salt Institute has brought me closer to my dream of producing international radio stories in post-disaster and conflict settings. I am currently studying Spanish in Venezuela on a Rotary scholarship and have already been approached by foreign radio programs for freelance audio work. Over the next six months in Venezuela I will begin volunteering with a group of young women at the local equivalent of a magnet school, teaching English as well as starting a youth radio program. You can listen to some of the audio work I have produced in Venezuela or read about the experience atwww.adventuresinsound.wordpress.com."
"With the Theta Foundation’s help, my career has catapulted forward. As my involvement in radio production continues to progress, I know I have Theta, in part, to thank. I feel lucky to have the support of this organization well past my years as an undergraduate living in the sorority house. Thank you Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation!”
