"The workshop helped to renew each sister's confidence and commitment to the values for which we stand."

"During the discussion of values, Mindy delved into the negative stereotypes associated with Greek life and how they are perpetuated. She cited specific examples from chapters at the University of Central Florida, and provided photo evidence of some of the inconsistencies between the values that these organizations say they stand for and their members’ behavior, which suggests otherwise.

Sisters were shocked and enlightened to see just how every aspect of daily life reflects on the reputation of an entire organization. Mindy discussed Kappa Alpha Theta’s public mission statement and how to align member behavior with what the organization stands for. She then left the room while our chapter ritualist led a discussion with the chapter members of Theta ritual and how we can bring it into our daily lives. The values discussion was one of the most influential portions of Mindy’s program. Sisters gained renewed confidence in Kappa Alpha Theta and the values for which their membership stands."

"She taught us that WE have the power."

    CHAPTER GRANT RECIPIENT

On her chapter's educational workshop with author Christine Hassler

Whether it is worrying about a class or wondering what we are going to do with the rest of our lives, college women are constantly faced with society’s expectations that we must “have it all” and have all of the answers right now. Christine Hassler’s presentation on what she calls “expectation hangovers” helped us see that we have the ability to alleviate many of the pressures with which we are constantly concerned. She taught us that expectations are inevitable, but that we have the power to address those expectations as we choose.
