Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation launched Give to Lead, Give to Learn, our first major fundraising campaign in three decades, to address the educational needs of our members in 2013. Give to Lead, Give to Learn established endowments for the Educational Leadership Consultant (ELC) program and a new need-based scholarship program. Both of these programs have the potential to impact every college chapter and collegian of Kappa Alpha Theta and are vital to the future success of our members.
Give to Lead, Give to Learn set a $5 million goal: $4 million to serve each of our chapters through the Educational Leadership Consultant program, and $1 million to support individual sisters through our need-based scholarship program.
We asked our sisters to invest in the future of our Fraternity, and they did.
At Grand Convention 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, Thetas celebrated the unprecedented success and conclusion of the Give to Lead, Give to Learn Campaign. There we announced that not only did we reach our $5 million goal six months ahead of schedule, the leading women of Kappa Alpha Theta also exceeded that goal, raising $5.2 million!
This campaign represents the collective impact and legacy of us all. In total, more than 2,400 Thetas, family members, and friends gave or pledged their support. Theta Foundation has already collected more than $3,422,000, and we anticipate nearly all of the $5.2 million pledged will be secured by July 2021.*
Even without the entire $5.2 million realized, the endowments for the Educational Leadership Consultant program and the need-based scholarship program are already making quite an impact. We will feel the effects of the resounding success of Give to Lead, Give to Learn for decades to come.
Read more about the immediate impact of the Give to Lead, Give to Learn Campaign in the 2015-16 Annual Report, beginning on page 65.
*Of the $1.7 million in outstanding pledges, all but $80,000 in bequests should be fulfilled within five years of the Campaign’s conclusion.
